What is MI ZAI Shiatsu? MI ZAI Shiatsu was developed by the Italian master Luigi Gargiulo during his 20+ years of teaching and practice. Energy is movement and the absence of movement causes stagnation of energy. Correct body movement is the medium through which energy is used in a MI ZAI Shiatsu session. Heavily influenced by Master Gargiulo's Aikido background, MI ZAI technique unifies usage of traditional acupupressure points with sensitivity to the flow of energy and with dynamic movement by the practitioner. The MI ZAI approach includes meditation, Shiatsu techniques and exercises, combined with an underlying focus on the philosophical concepts within traditional Oriental medical theory. "MI ZAI" is Japanese for "not yet" and refers to the Zen Buddhist philosophy that no one can be truly enlightened until the world is enlightened. At its heart, the MI ZAI philosophy is dedicated to continuous growth and improvement. Shiatsu is an art which must be continuously evolving, as must its practitioners. As such, MI ZAI is taking Shiatsu to a completely new level of subtlety and power. In its dedication to extending the boundaries of our awareness, MI ZAI Shiatsu is truly at the leading edge of Shiatsu practice.
